“Spring is the time of plans and projects.”
― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
Dear BioOne Community,
Plans and projects, indeed! This spring finds us energized by exciting new developments designed to expand BioOne’s impact over time. The team at BioOne and our partners are hard at work to introduce our inaugural eBook offering, the ESA eBook Collection. Hard-to-find, previously undigitized titles across the field of entomology are being scanned and processed while we ready our digital platform to welcome this collection. In recognition of this addition, the platform will be renamed the BioOne Digital Library, establishing the foundation for even more content collections in the years to come.
The BioOne team is growing, too: in January we welcomed Meredith Pond to the role of Publisher and Partnerships Manager. Meredith has a wealth of experience cultivating meaningful relationships with societies and publishers, helping them to shepherd their publications through phases of change. Meredith’s first major order of business – distributing our annual publisher reports and royalty shares later this month. With this distribution, BioOne will mark the return of more than $67.5 million in publisher royalties over the past two decades.
We celebrate BioOne’s growth and lasting impact, and as always, acknowledge the tremendous contributions of our partners and their support of sustainable nonprofit publishing.

BioOne is pleased to introduce our new Publisher and Partnerships Manager, Meredith Pond. Meredith comes to BioOne with 13 years of experience in academic publishing, especially in STM society journals. Her work in other organizations included fostering relationships with societies and editors, growing society brands, editorial development of journals as well as platform technology, open access research, launching and developing new products (journals and virtual conferences) and digital publishing.
If you have any questions or want to introduce yourself, you can email Meredith at publishing@BioOne.org.

Room to Grow: The BioOne Digital Library
We are excited to announce that we will soon rename our platform the BioOne Digital Library. As we prepare to expand our product offerings with the launch of the ESA eBook Collection, this evolution enables us to better serve our publishers, librarians, and readers by underscoring the robust platform which benefits both ebook and journal content. There will be no changes or actions for our librarians and publishers, but we wanted you to know that you will soon see the platform name on BioOne.org.
Creating this distinction will enhance our position in academic publishing, allowing space to grow our offerings as BioOne continues to strengthen our partnerships and adapt to changing needs within our community.
